The New York Times Highlights Pregnancy Centers

The New York Times
In the leading section of the January 5, 2013, issue of The New York Times, a feature article highlights the benefits of pregnancy centers, including a quote from a source who calls them “the darlings of the pro-life movement.”

In addition to sharing the story of a woman in Texas who chose life for her son after seeing him for the first time on a pregnancy clinic’s ultrasound, the author provides this positive description of pregnancy centers:

“With largely volunteer staffs and donations from mostly Christian sources, centers usually offer free tests and ultrasounds, services that clinics like Planned Parenthood charge for. They offer advice about baby-rearing or adoption, ask if women are being pressured to abort, and give technical descriptions of abortion and fetal development. Many offer prayer and Bible study.”

  1. The New York Times did not call them the "darlings of the pro-life movement." That statement was made by a person they interviewed for the article. Get the facts straight.

    1. Thank you for taking the time to read this blog carefully! By including the quote, our intent was to state a reference to content within the article. We have revised our original entry to further reflect this clarification.

      We appreciate all feedback!
